Maui Shots

This was my second try at photographing a full moon.
Shot at 1/30 @ f11.0 1oo ISO @ 300mm

Shot 1/60 @ f8.0 100ISO @ 300mm

Yes I live in Tropical Maui, but we do have winter here as well. This is Snow on Haleakala. In 11 1/2 years living here we have had snow on the volcano a couple of times, but this is the first time that I've been able to see it from sea level. This was shot adjacent to the Maui Ocean Center in Maalaea

Last Tuesday after 2 days of heavy rains filled Kealia Pond this was the view when driving home from work around 3:20pm. Yes this is a real shot, I did not photoshop anything into the picture.

Here's a little better view. There is a small stream located just to the left of this view that flows from the main body of water across the highway. My guess is that the shark swam it at high tide and either couldn't get out or liked the captive food chain in the pond.

Ok, I'll fess up. It's a plastic shark fin that someone put in the pond about a month ago when it first filled up. By the time I first saw it the water level had dropped enough that you could see the bottom of the fin and the post. I waited until the pond filled up again to get these shoots. My mother in-law was in the car with me when I took these and was positive that it was real, but wondered why it wasn't swimming around. We were there for about 20 minutes.

Turtle Bay-Oahu

North Shore of Oahu again hosted the first full field 2008 Champions Tour event.
We met old friends and made new acquaintances and had a great time, in spite of the 30 mph winds.

This is my first try at a stormy full moon.

Yes I'm directly above the newest breakout that started in July of 2007.
We are doing approximately 150 mph at about 1,500 ft. What a rush!

Ow, this looks hot.
