Several nights ago we had a little Four-Clawed Gecko decide that he was going to sleep right in the middle of our walking path thru our bedroom into the master bathroom.  He decided to stay there for about 12 hours before wandering off to his regular haunts ;0)

Friday night we (Maui) had one of it's infrequent Thunder/Lightning storms. Civil defense had been predicting this for 3 nights and finally got it right. Means they are batting 33.3% which would be great if they were playing baseball instead of warning us about severe weather ;0(.

An Afternoon on Kauai

A recent trip to Kauai gave me the opportunity to do some landscape photography and presented me with an unexpected gem.
My first stop was the Kilauea Lighthouse. Situated on the point of a peninsula, with majestic cliffs rolling to the sea.
Second stop was along the Kuhio Hwy to shoot the valley entrance to the Jurassic Kahili Ranch. This beautiful valley reaches back to the majestic mountains with their jagged peaks covered by gray and threatening clouds. Many movies have been shoot on this property, yes including the Jurassic Movies.
Next was a stop a little ways down the road to check out an old cemetery. As I walked along looking I came up to a giant tree with vines and foliage growing up into it. Buried in the vegetation was an ancient National Tractor.
Last was a stop along a Hwy overlook to for some shots of  the Opeakaa Falls.  A  40' wide, 151' tall waterfall in the Wailua River State Park.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I did taking them.
Aloha Nui Loa.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been experimenting with shooting birds in my back yard. We have a birdbath next to a lemon tree that attracts so many different species of birds, from love birds, finches, Myna, Hawaiian Egret, to several types of Cardinals.  Here are just a few.

A few more photos from the Mermaid Fairy shoot for Geisha Fabulous.

What a great learning experience. Fashion photo shoot for Geisha Fabulous Hair pieces. Mona Lisa envisioned a Mermaid and Fairie theme for the shoot.  Did Mermaids at a Koi pond and Fairies on the lawn and under a mango tree. Lighting is definitely a challenge that I am going to work at mastering. New speed lights and soft boxes didn't produce at the output that was indicated.  Used remote senders, but discovered that having to reposition each sender every time the soft boxes were moved really effected the workflow. This is an effect of shooting outdoors with little to no bounce for the senders to receive. Next shoot will use the camera as master and set the speed lights as slaves.  This will make it much easier to reposition as the models move to different poses and locations.
Checkout my Pinterest page for a few shots from the shoot. More to be posted later. Stay tuned!
