Finally in a location where I was able to get close enough to get some shots of ducks. These are American Wigeon that were hanging out at a pond on a golf course in Orting Washington.

Very pleased with how these turned out.  Sigma 70-200mm w/2x extender on Canon 7D so 640mm. ISO 800, 1/320 sec @ f/5.6.  Post processing in Lightroom, Cropping, Vignette and Signature in PhotoshopCC.

Half way to Weekend. Have a great rest of the week and don't forget you Camera.

Aloha,
Aaron

Sunshine ;-)

Sun finally decided to make an appearance this morning, so decided to get a couple of shots of the Grandkids dogs playing in the back yard.  We're dog sitting while they play at Disneyland.  Go figure.

What's that in the grass? Smells wonderful!
 Flower, AKA Sneagle
 Lilly on the scent
 Looking at a different crop.

Get out there and take advantage of the sun while it lasts.
Don't forget the camera.

Macro Photography:
Last couple of days I've been practicing (ie learning) macro photography. This is a very challenging type of photography as the depth of field is so small that focusing is extremely difficult when looking thru the viewfinder or even using live view.  I should add that I only have one lens that lists as macro and it is not a 1:1 macro. Canon 6D, EF 23-70mm L USM lens, and 3 FotdioX Pro extension tubes was the equipment I used.

After some (frustrating) time trying to focus with the camera I decided to use the wifi function of my Canon 6D and use the Canon app on my iPhone 6+.  This made it much easier.  I also watched a youtube video on Macro that included info on stack focusing. So decided to try that.

Stack focus involves taking multiple shoot at different focal points.  First shot was focused on the closest point to the camera. Then each subsequent photo the focus is adjusted slightly farther back.
All processing was done in Photoshop CC.

Here are a couple of shots that I'm pleased with for a first time shooting experience.

This is a stack of 9 shots
Blue clips are 2" long, White, Green & Yellow are 1 5/16" long.

This one is a stack of 14 shot and I was still not able to get the yellow clip into focus.
Each clip is 1 5/16" long.

This was done before I learned about stacking and is just one shot.  I focused between the 2 figures trying to get both as focused as possible.  Mist was added in Photoshop CC post processing.
Boat is 2 1/16" long.

Although these are not perfect. I'm quite happy for a 1st time experiment and not having a true Macro lens.  Give Macro a try and feel free to post them with your comments.

Have a great week and don't forget your camera.

Aaron
